International Court of Justice

Liam Carson – Chair
Liam is in his grad year at WPGA and his 6th year of doing model UN. Having been Secretary General at VYMUN last year, Liam is excited to see VYMUN run under new leadership. He hopes that the second year of the ICJ will be just as fun and educational than it has been previously and he can’t wait to work with fellow staffers Ben Turner, Hayaat Stuart, and Ethan Kellough-Warren. He enjoys debate, traveling, and running track.

Ben Turner – Director
Ben is happy to be back at VYMUN for his third year, having helped in previous years on the Crisis Committee and in the ICJ. An active debater and veteran MUN-er, Ben is excited to be Director on ICJ, along with Chairperson Liam Carson and Assistant Directors Ethan and Hayaat. Ben is the only non-WPGA student on staff, a Grade 12 student from St. John’s School. Ben and the rest of the ICJ staff will ensure a fun and informative weekend, filled with international justice cases and law, alongside with Peggle, dubstep and whale-hunting.

Ethan Kellough-Warren – Assistant Director
Ethan, having participated on VYMUN’s ICJ last year as a delegate, is thrilled to share his expertise in Model UN with others. He is also elated with the inevitable excitement of sampling the plethora of caffeinated beverages Granville Island has to offer. He knows that this year’s ICJ sessions will be incontrovertibly the single most illustrious thing VYMUN has ever seen, and will work tirelessly (aided by a coffee, this is possible) to give delegates the most wondrous Model UN experience. Ethan absolutely despises thesauri, but rather relies upon his voluminous understanding of the English language to incorporate outlandish adjectives into all the he does.

Hayaat Stuart – Assistant Director
Hayaat is very excited to be staffing at VYMUN 2011. Last year, as a grade 10 student, Hayaat enjoyed dashing from the UBC debates to VYMUN to act as a member of the Crisis Staff. This is her third year involved in VYMUN, and as both an active and enthusiastic debater and MUN-er she is looking forward to spending a weekend that never seems to include enough sleep; however, she knows that it will include lots of fun, lots of Granville Island fish and chips, and definitely lots of international law. In addition, she is very excited to see how our director Ben Turner will incorporate whale hunting into our time together.  She enjoys traveling, volunteering, singing and the beach.
