The United Nations Conference on International Organization was a convention of delegates from numerous Allied nations that took place from 25 April 1945 to 26 June 1945 in San Francisco. The objective of the meeting was to review and rewrite the Dumbarton Oaks agreements, which led to the creation of the United Nations Charter. This is the base treaty of the United Nations, which includes the purposes of the United Nations, criteria for membership, arrangements to establish international law, and numerous other articles. In addition, the Charter concerned the creation of the Security Council – with its five permanent members: The Republic of China, the Provisional Government of the French Republic, The Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, and the United states.

The UNCIO is designed for beginner delegates. Countries are recommended to write a 200 page paragraph on their country’s stance.

Topic: The Formation of the United Nations

Position papers are required for anyone wishing to be eligible for an award.
Position papers are due Friday, October 27th.

Rio Townsend | Director | uncio@vymun.com

1Hi my name is Rio and it’s my pleasure to be the director of the United Nations Council of International Organization. I am a grade 11 student at WPGA. As a Model UN delegate I have been fortunate enough to travel around Canada, the United States and to Hong Kong. Some of my most memorable times have been with my fellow Model UN  classmates. During my spare time I love to play sports such as soccer and basketball. I am looking forward to a fantastic conference where each one of you has a voice and the ability to express the opinion of the respective nations you will be representing. Good Luck!
